President's Corner
MCHS members and friends:
This past winter has continued
to be a time of growth and change for the Mason County Historical
Society and Historic White Pine village. The Board has been kept
busy over the normally slow winter months with a growing list of
opportunities and projects that have kept our Director and staff on
the go. A visit to the ever-changing scene at Historic White Pine
Village is the best way to survey the new buildings as well as the
changes to some of our older sites. We are experiencing multiple
projects that at time seem to take on a being of their own. How our
staff keeps up on all the irons in the fire is mind-boggling. I must
also share that I believe when we stop growing we start to die. As
we roll into spring and the summer season we continue to upgrade our
current exhibits when the opportunity presents and continue to work
on the new for our guests.
I would encourage the members,
friends and guests of the MCHS to be a part of these continued
opportunities. Each idea and each volunteer helps to keep the dream
of preserving Mason Counties rich heritage alive and well for future
generations. We all have a part we can play in the process. Please
consider how you can be involved in additional or new ways in the
Society and/or the Village. There are a number of projects in the
formative stages that need support. Find your niche and join us for
the ride. There is a spot for each of us on the wagon. Hope you can
join us there.
