William Anderson Sr. Hardware Store

William Anderson Sr. Hardware Store In 1921 Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson moved to Ludington to operate her father's store, Krogen Hardware. They purchased the store in 1929 and renamed it the William Anderson Hardware Store. The building is an exact replica. Several of the structural features from the original store were incorporated into the building including windows, doors, and shelves. The contents and furnishings are displayed as they were (from photographic survey) when the business ceased operations in July 1978.

Upon Mr. Anderson's death in 1978, the store had the distinction of being the oldest Ludington business still in operation by the same family. Items in the store in its early days included: horse collars, horse pads, whiffle-trees, and farm implements. Later he added general hardware, paint, glass, pipe fittings and miscellaneous items most generally found in hardware stores of today.
